Beautiful art deco space adjacent to the castle. Skip the tourist traps and come and support a local business with amazing food. The owner is especially nice and helped me out with some picky eating kids. Once I saw the beautiful menu, I knew I had to try.
We came after lunch ended, but the desserts had a wide variety of vegan options. I had a pear cheesecake, and my mom had vegan chocolate mousse. Both were amazing. Excellent service as well, our server and the welcome-r spoke English very well.
Set in a bustling location next to the castle, it was busy but also a really relaxing location from which to people watch and sketch. The staff were very welcoming and friendly, despite being swept off their feet, and the food came relatively quickly even at the height of lunchtime. I didn't book, but I did take the last available table so perhaps book in advance as it's a popular spot. I ordered two dishes: the haloumi salad and vegan sausage sandwich. The two together required me to loosen my belt, but they were so delicious I couldn't leave a scrap. It was the best vegetarian food I've had in months. Highly recommend.
We really enjoyed our lunch. Super friendly service. Lots of seating indoors. Everything on the menu was vegetarian or vegan.
We were only in Ghent for two days, but spent both lunches at Boon. We loved it so much the first day, we had to come back and try more. The salads were amazing and very large in size. The sweet summer salad (pictured) was one of my all time favorites. We also tried to soup of the day (zucchini and thyme) and the Davai dumpling soup, both delicious! On top of the great food, the women working are so kind and made us feel right at home. My only regret was not saving room to try their desserts. I highly recommend making time to stop at Boon while in Ghent. If I find myself back in Ghent, I’ll be sure to stop by again.
